Why Abortion Must Be Abolished: Part One

As a Christian, I am unequivocally and unapologetically an abolitionist when it comes to the injustice that is abortion. The Bible teaches that life is inherently valuable to God and the child of God must hold to the mindset of God. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Prov 3:5-6). If we will trust God with all our heart, we will see life as He sees it. If we are not dependent on our own understanding then we must not let the propaganda of the left and right in the United States convince us that God’s definition has exceptions. If all of our ways acknowledge Him as the God who created the heavens and the earth, we will be on the right path in life. How does this work?

Murder is Always Murder

First, abortion is murder. Murder is always murder and, without exception, sin. When bloodshed occurs in murder, Jehovah likened it as having the ability to call out to Him. Genesis 4:10 reads, “And He said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.” Jehovah showed his view of blood to Cain. He stated that the blood of his slain brother was crying out to Him. The Bible teaches that God values blood for it is a necessity for life. Leviticus 17:11 affirms that the life of the flesh is in the blood. Blood is important to Jehovah without exception. Murder is illegal thus, abortion must be abolished completely.

Is it Lawful to Murder Anyone?

One argument presented for the case of abortion is that a woman has a right to choose. While I affirm that each human is a free moral agent we must be clear that choices are consequential. We recognize that every person has freewill to choose to murder another human, or hire someone to do it. However, it is not a right supported by man’s law or God’s Law. Many states that allow for abortion allow a murderer of a pregnant woman to be charged with two counts (one for the mother, and one for the unborn child). It seems a bit inconsistent if the laws of state suggest that a life is a life in the womb in the case of one murderer, versus not being the case when the child is murdered by a contract killer abortion doctor in cooperation with the mother.

You nor any citizen has the right to murder another, which includes all life from conception to old age. Our society has accepted the shedding of innocent blood for far too long. Will God not judge? Proverbs 6:16-17 explains that God hates the shedding of innocent blood. Can we possibly define the abortion as any other practice than the shedding of innocent blood? What possibly could a preborn child, let alone any child do, that would make them less than innocent? This great evil has become an accepted alternative to any unwanted pregnancy.

Proponents of abortion have made the suggestion that we just want to control women's bodies. This is not correct, the child in a woman's womb is not the pregnant woman. At conception the seed (foreign to the woman's body) is joined with the egg and a new person is formed. A new person with distinct DNA is formed in what is termed as a zygote. So we must recognize a child from conception is distinct from its mother. So can one person terminate the life of another person in response to an action carried out by a third party? Murder is illegal, including hiring hitmen, thus abortion must be abolished.

A Sin Against One Person Does Not Allow For a Sinful Response

When we are children we might have someone who does us wrong. Perhaps someone starts a fight with you and strikes you in the face with a closed fist. What would be the correct approach concerning such behavior? For sake of argument, would it be appropriate to go and stab any random person because someone punched you? That would never be appropriate. We would understand that the one who strikes sinned and the one who stabs sinned. Commonly, those on the left on this issue will bait the right in with the exceptions of rape and incest as the only legal uses of abortion. First, the overwhelming majority of the left do not believe these should be the only exceptions with most believing abortion should be legal in most cases. However a majority of conservative and liberals alike believe that abortion should remain an option for those who are victims of rape and/or incest.

I must ask if someone is raped, does that allow for one to murder the child that results from that assault? Why does one sin allow for another? God demands justice, mercy, and lovingkindness because that is what he showed to mankind, all mankind. This includes those who are rapists, abortion doctors, and women who have had abortions. Should we not then expect the same courtesy?

The Sword for Those Who Commit Atrocities

Adam Smith said, “Mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent.” Rape is a great moral blight and it is this writers opinion that the punishment of one rightly convicted of  this crime should be death. I believe also as a deterrent we must punish abortion doctors (contract killers) and women who elect to choose to kill their children to the fullest extent of the law. Is this too extreme? Let me ask you if a mother drowns her child in the tub at six months old, will she not face the court and punishment up to and including death? What if a woman hires a hitman to kill her grown child? Will she not be charged with, and even convicted of a capital offense in our nation?

You may ask why would you suggest that the rapist, doctors, and even women who get abortions should face the death penalty and not allow for abortion? How can you be pro-life? The Bible teaches that the government exists to be a minister of God, which does wield the sword in His name, so it is not hypocritical to be pro-life, as in anti-infanticide and pro-capital punishment for their murderers and violators of women.

For rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. And wouldest thou have no fear of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise from the same: for he is a minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is a minister of God, an avenger for wrath to him that doeth evil.

(Romans 13:3-4)

While a penitent rapist, murderer, etc can be forgiven of their sins, that does not take away the civil debt that is owed to society that has become too comfortable with the murder of innocents. Rape is illegal and must be punished severely to reduce the number of rapists. However, rape and incest do not allow for the murder of an innocent, thus abortion must be abolished in all circumstances.
